Terms & Conditions – AiTHOR Apps

These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of any Shopify app developed and published by AiTHOR ("we", "us", "our") (collectively, the "Apps"). By installing or using any AiTHOR app in your Shopify store, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

If you do not agree to these Terms, do not install or use our Apps.

1. Relationship with Shopify

AiTHOR is an independent developer and is not owned, operated, or endorsed by Shopify Inc. Your use of Shopify is governed by your separate agreement with Shopify. These Terms apply only to your use of AiTHOR Apps.

2. Eligibility and merchant responsibility

Our Apps are intended for business merchants operating Shopify stores. By using an AiTHOR app, you confirm that you:

Are at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction);
Have authority to bind the business or store you represent; and
Will use the Apps in accordance with these Terms and applicable laws.

You are responsible for your Shopify store, including its content, configuration, and compliance with all applicable laws and platform policies (for example, advertising platform rules).

3. Access to the Apps

To use an AiTHOR app, you must install it from the Shopify App Store, authorise the requested permissions (scopes), and maintain an active Shopify store and internet connection.

We may update, enhance, or change the Apps from time to time, including introducing new features or removing ones that are no longer supported. Where feasible, we will try to ensure changes do not materially disrupt your use of the App.

4. Licence and acceptable use

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use our Apps for your own Shopify store's internal business purposes.

You agree not to:

Copy, modify, or create derivative works of the Apps except as permitted by law;
Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the Apps, except where allowed by applicable law;
Use the Apps in any way that is unlawful, harmful, or reasonably likely to disrupt Shopify, AiTHOR, or other merchants;
Use the Apps to process data you do not have the right to process;
Circumvent technical protections, limits, or usage controls in the Apps.

5. Data, privacy, and permissions

When you install an AiTHOR app, Shopify shares certain information with us so the app can function (for example, store details, product data, or other records depending on the scopes you approve).

Our use of this data is described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms. By using our Apps, you also agree to our Privacy Policy.

You are responsible for ensuring that your use of the Apps (and any data you process with them) complies with applicable privacy and data-protection laws, and that you have obtained any necessary consents from your customers or users.

6. Plans, fees, and billing

Some AiTHOR Apps may be free, while others may offer paid plans, usage-based charges, or trials. Pricing and billing details are managed through the Shopify App Store and will be shown to you before you accept a paid plan.

By subscribing to a paid plan, you authorise Shopify to charge you on our behalf in accordance with the plan's terms. Billing, refunds, and payment disputes are generally handled via Shopify's billing system and policies.

We may change prices or plan structures in the future. Any changes will be communicated through the Shopify App Store listing or within the App, and will apply from the next billing period unless otherwise stated.

7. Intellectual property

AiTHOR retains all rights, title, and interest in and to the Apps, including all software, documentation, logos, and branding, except for any components licensed from third parties.

You retain all rights to your Shopify store, including your products, content, and data. Using our Apps does not transfer ownership of your store or its contents to us.

8. App availability and changes

We aim to keep our Apps available and functioning reliably; however, we cannot guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. The Apps may occasionally be unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or issues beyond our control.

We may modify or discontinue an App (or any part of it) at any time. If we discontinue an App or a major feature, we will make reasonable efforts to give merchants notice in advance where possible.

9. Support

We provide support for our Apps via email and our support channels. Details are available within each App and on our website.

While we aim to respond promptly, we do not guarantee any particular response time or resolution time. Support is generally provided during standard business hours and may vary based on the nature of your request.

10. Termination and uninstall

You may stop using an AiTHOR app at any time by uninstalling it from your Shopify admin. Uninstalling will stop further access to your store data.

We may suspend or terminate your access to an App if:

You materially breach these Terms;
Your use of the App creates a security risk or interferes with other merchants or systems; or
We are required to do so by law, a court order, or platform policies.

Termination will not limit any rights or remedies that either party may have accrued up to that point.

11. Disclaimers

Our Apps are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, whether express, implied, or statutory, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

Many AiTHOR Apps, such as compliance or analysis tools, provide information, suggestions, or flags based on rules and patterns. Such information is for guidance only and does not constitute legal or regulatory advice. You are responsible for your own compliance with laws, regulations, and platform policies (for example, Google Ads, Meta Ads, etc.).

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, AiTHOR and its owners, employees, and contractors will not be liable for:

Any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages; or
Any loss of profits, revenue, customers, or data, arising out of or in connection with your use of (or inability to use) the Apps.

Our total liability for any claim relating to an App will be limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid for that App in the three (3) months prior to the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) one hundred (100) US dollars, unless a different mandatory limit is required by applicable law.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time, for example to reflect changes in our Apps, legal requirements, or business practices. When we make material changes, we will update the Last updated date above and may provide additional notice through the App or Shopify.

Your continued use of an AiTHOR app after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree to the changes, you should uninstall the App.

14. Governing law

Unless otherwise required by local law, these Terms and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them will be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales will have non-exclusive jurisdiction.
